Dear Anthony,

ICUJP exists because of an extraordinary peace advocate - the Rev. George F. Regas. In the days after 9/11, he called together Buddhist, Christian, Islamic, Jewish, Quaker and other faith leaders and activists to oppose the forces pressing for war and its devastating consequences.

Nineteen years after 9/11, the struggle for justice and peace goes on. So it's a fitting time for ICUJP to recognize those who, in the spirit of Rev. Regas, continue to oppose the tragic folly of endless war and violence at home and worldwide.

We're excited to announce the 2020 George F. Regas Courageous Peacemaker Award recipients:

For Justice:

  • Black Lives Matter - Los Angeles

For Peace:

  • The Most Rev. Desmond Tutu, Archbishop Emeritus of Cape Town, South Africa
  • Jewish Voice for Peace
  • World BEYOND War

We're also delighted to use this occasion to celebrate Rev. Regas' upcoming 90th birthday on Oct. 1! 🎂🎉🎁🎈🌟💕

You are warmly invited to a special online program honoring the award recipients and celebrating Rev. Regas' milestone. The event will include live music, video presentations, and appearances by Rev. Regas and other special guests. To RSVP, please visit the event registration page

We look forward to your joining us and celebrating the 2020 Courageous Peacemaker Award recipients and Rev. Regas!

Warmly,

Stephen Rohde, Chair
Grace Dyrness, Vice Chair
